Local Author Showcase

Join us for a Local Author Showcase!

We’ve invited the authors of three new books to Rough Draft Bar & Books for a meet and greet event. Each author will have their own space to greet customers. Visitors to Rough Draft are encouraged to engage with the authors, learn about the books, and take home a signed copy if they wish, and of course sample some of Rough Draft’s delicious drinks and snacks!

This month’s featured authors are:

Avgi Saketopoulou is a psychoanalyst in private practice and is a member of the faculty at the NYU Postdoctoral Program in Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis. Her book Sexuality Beyond Consent calls attention to what traumatized subjects do with their pain. Saketopoulou shows why sexualities beyond consent may be worth risking-and how risk can solicit the future. When she is not working, she rides her motorcycle, hoping for good weather.

Kerri Schlotman is the author of Tell Me One Thing from Regal House Publishing. Tell Me One Thing is a portrait of two Americas, examining power, privilege, and the sacrifices one is willing to make to succeed as it tells the story of a provocative photograph, the struggling artist who takes it, and its young and troubled subject. Traveling through the 1980s to present day, Tell Me One Thing delves into New York City's free-for-all grittiness while exposing a neglected slice of the rural rust belt.

Kathleen Fern Suess is a writer, visual artist, poet, and amateur photographer. Her latest book, Tablecloth Nights explores the intimate complexities of an Irish Catholic upbringing stained by alcoholism and secrets. Suess embraces the challenge and embarks on a journey of self-discovery in the face of family members denials and silence.

Reservations are not required to attend this meet and greet, and reserving at ticket on Eventbrite does not guarantee a seat. (Reservations are still appreciated, however; they help us stay in touch and communicate changes if needed, and they give us an idea of how many people to expect.)
