Jessie's Girl Reading and Poetry Open Mic

  • Rough Draft Bar & Books 82 John Street Kingston, NY, 12401 United States (map)

Rough Draft is excited to welcome author Edie Lynn for a reading and signing of her new book, Jessie’s Girl. There will be an open poetry mic following the author’s reading.

The reading will start at 6:15 pm and transition into an open mic in which the community is invited to participate. The open mic will wrap up around 7:15 in which there will be time for mingling, meeting, and a chance to buy a signed copy of Edie Lynn’s book.

Edie Lynn is a pseudonym used by the author to protect her privacy as a mental health provider while offering her vulnerability and story to the reader through poetry. Edie (pronouns she/her/hers) is a queer poet, artist, social worker, animal lover, and social justice advocate. As you read you will begin wading in the depths of her experiences as a; child of a single parent, sister of a sibling navigating trauma and addiction, survivor of sexual abuse, coming out as a lesbian, navigating mental illness and psychiatric inpatient admissions, and pursuing a career in mental health. This book of poetry can be triggering and if at any point it is not right for you feel free to throw it against the wall! No really. If it is right for you, you are invited to join in the journey of self-exploration, pain, and healing through poetry.

Copies of the book will be for sale during the signing, while supplies last.
