Book Signing - Country Life: Homes of the Catskill Mountains and Hudson Valley by William Abranowicz

  • Rough Draft Bar & Books 82 John Street Kingston, NY, 12401 United States (map)

Rough Draft is excited to welcome author William Abranowicz for a celebration and signing of his book, Country Life: Homes of the Catskills and Hudson Valley.

William will be visiting from 2 to 4 pm on Sunday, August 13th, to chat about his work and sign copies of Country Life: Homes of the Catskills and Hudson Valley. RSVPs via Eventbrite are not required but they are appreciated. (They help us stay in touch in case of changes, and they give us an idea of how many people to expect.)

Country Life: Homes of the Catskills and Hudson Valley showcases the majestic panoramas, lush vegetation, and bucolic vibe of the Catskill Mountains and Hudson River Valley in upstate New York that have long proved irresistible for city dwellers seeking respite from urban life and inveterate country lovers alike. Their homes, whether hundreds of years old or brand new, all resonate with their natural surroundings, as each of the 20 houses that photographer William Abranowicz captured for this volume attests. They range from the historic houses of Thomas Cole and Frederic Church, quintessential landscape painters of the Hudson River School, to the rustic wood-and-stone house of a dealer of mid-century furniture, art, and jewelry, in which the clean lines of Frank Lloyd Wright side tables and other mid-century furnishings are exuberantly contrasted by vibrant textiles and contemporary ceramics.

William Abranowicz is the author of eight books of photographs on domestic life, the environment, travel, and voting rights. His photographs have been featured in nearly every major publication in the world and his prints are in public and private collections including The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Brooklyn Museum, The National Portrait Gallery in London, The Smithsonian, and Bibilotheque Nationale in Paris. Bill claims to live in the Catskill Mountains of New York, though he often seems to be elsewhere.

Copies of the book will be for sale during the signing, while supplies last. You can also preorder a copy here
